From the design stage to post construction - New community hospital development
We were commissioned at the early design stage of this brand new hospital development project. We were brought in to co-ordinate and develop the ecological and arboricultural inputs for the planning application submission.
We prepared the Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) and a BS 5837 Tree Survey and Arboricultural Impact Assessment for the site.
The proposals received planning permission in August 2010. Our commission was then extended to help the team to deliver the key planning conditions.
Post construction, we continue to be involved. We are currently carrying out post construction monitoring of the site’s ecology.
What was our role?
Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA)
We pulled together a robust and well-referenced EcIA using existing and specifically commissioned specialist ecological surveys.
Consultation with the wider project team and stakeholders was a key part of our role, including maintaining ongoing and constructive dialogue with the local planning team.
BS 5837 Tree Survey and Arboricultural Impact Assessment (AIA)
We were commissioned to carry out a tree and hedgerow survey at the site. We developed tree protection details and mitigation.
Our tree survey incorporated a bat scoping survey to assess the potential of trees to support bats. We were then able to deliver a series of bat activity surveys and provide advice on bat licensing and mitigation.
Ecological Mitigation and Enhancement Plan
The preparation of this plan was conditioned as part of the planning permission and its role was to provide a framework and detail to guide the ecological aspects of the development through the final stages of planning and construction.
Habitat Management Plan and Post Construction Monitoring
This plan is currently in use at the site and is used to guide the ongoing maintenance and monitoring of the site’s habitats, some of which were created as part of the development itself. We liaise with the site’s landscape contractors and the hospital’s facilities manager to ensure that all habitat management tasks are on track and habitat creation works is on the road to success.
On Health Sector projects we provide: Input at the feasibility, detailed design, construction and monitoring stages of brand new or extensions to hospital developments
Do you have a public or private health sector project requiring arboricultural and ecological input?
We can advise you on the ecological and arboricultural requirements of the project and provide technically accurate and high quality reports for your planning submission.
Please phone us, email or write. We are always happy to discuss potential projects with you. Following our discussion we can prepare a fee proposal, setting out our recommended approach to your project, anticipated timescales for project completion and our fees.
