Parks, gardens & veteran trees

Trees are fundamental to the character of parks, gardens and heritage treescapes. We support their custodians with expert tree advice.

Asset 1@2x

Trees require ongoing management. Sound tree management requires sound tree planning. We work alongside you to formulate a long-term strategy for your treescape and outline a prioritized plan to bring it to life.

We work with rural estates to plan sustainable tree and woodland management, specialist parkland schemes and veteran tree plans.

We also advise on trees within the designed landscapes of parks, gardens and arboretums, to ensure trees are managed safely and for the future.

Trees in historic Parks and Gardens

We provide a specialist service to support good tree management in these designed landscapes.

Services include creation of tree inventories and advice on tree species selection in the light of climate change.

We are proud to have supported fine examples of garden treescapes from Royal Horticultural Society Harlow CarrThe Royal Parks and South Cliff Gardens, Scarborough.

Whether you are a manager of a public or private park, garden or arboretum, we can help you conserve this unique green heritage.

Advice on Ancient and Veteran trees

Older trees need specialist assessments. Get in touch for:

  • Specialist veteran tree surveys and management plans
  • Tree age calculations and research into tree provenance
  • Decay detection surveys using PiCUS tomography
  • Surveys to assess the biodiversity value of trees

Restoring the UK’s heritage treescapes

We work closely with Estate managers to develop sustainable tree and woodland management plans.

We advise on parkland restoration, including tree ageing, planting plans and veteran tree survey.

Our knowledge of environmental grant application procedures means you can implement plans with financial backing.

We can:

  • Prepare grant applications for Environmental Land Management schemes and Forestry Commission projects including Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier schemes
  • Identify funding for environmental enhancements such as tree planting, forestry, woodland management and capital expenditure projects such as fencing
  • Act as an Agent for estates, managing funding applications from survey to submission and liaising with the Rural Payments Agency throughout the funding lifecycle

I found Guy to be prompt and execute his work carefully and with efficiency. Guy was able to take us through the software programme also to ensure we could derive what we needed from it and that it was compatible with our existing system.
