Trees are often the defining structural element of parks, gardens and designed landscapes, influencing garden style, spatial structure and long-term character. In arboreta, they form curated collections representing an important part of living plant heritage.

For head gardeners and park managers, the challenge is to balance design intent, botanical and visitor interest, and the long-term performance of the treescape, while maintaining safe and functional landscapes.

Without clear long-term planning, trees can outgrow intended design structure, dominate surrounding planting, or create safety issues in high-use environments.

To support this, we provide bespoke tree management systems tailored to each site. Central to our approach is the development of detailed tree inventories, creating a mapped and structured record of the tree stock to support informed decision-making, succession planning and efficient resource management.

These inventories underpin practical management strategies, guiding retention, canopy management and replanting programmes, while supporting proactive tree risk management in visitor-facing landscapes.

Where required, we undertake tree risk assessment and advanced decay detection using PiCUS Sonic Tomography to inform decisions where structural integrity is uncertain.
