BS5837 Tree Surveys, Arboricultural Impact Assessment and Practical Development Advice Across Yorkshire and Throughout the UK
Expert arboricultural advice can make a significant difference to planning success, development viability and overall project cost.
We provide BS5837 tree surveys, Tree Constraints Plans, Arboricultural Impact Assessments, Arboricultural Method Statements and Tree Protection Plans for planning applications, development projects and construction schemes across Yorkshire and throughout the UK. We work with architects, developers and planning consultants from feasibility through to construction.
A tree survey is a key design tool, not a box-ticking exercise. It identifies constraints such as Root Protection Areas (RPAs), tree quality and development limitations that influence layout, access, drainage and foundations. When considered early, these can be designed around rather than becoming costly redesign issues later.
We combine arboricultural expertise with detailed knowledge of construction methods and tree mitigation techniques, including foundation solutions, no-dig construction, service routing and soil protection systems. This allows us to contribute meaningfully to design discussions with architects, engineers and development teams.
Led by a former Local Authority Tree Officer, our Principal Arboriculturist understands how planning authorities assess applications. Our reports are clear, proportionate and aligned with planning expectations, helping reduce validation issues and planning delays.
We are regularly instructed on complex and sensitive development projects where trees are a key constraint. Our experience includes residential schemes, commercial developments, rural sites, schools and major redevelopment projects.
We also work on projects involving Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs), veteran trees and ancient trees, where experienced judgement and careful mitigation are essential.
Alongside BS5837 tree surveys, we provide Arboricultural Impact Assessments, Tree Protection Plans, Arboricultural Method Statements and Arboricultural Clerk of Works services during construction.
Because of our technical understanding of construction methods and tree protection techniques, we are able to work effectively with architects, engineers and contractors to develop practical, buildable solutions that integrate arboricultural constraints into design.
By becoming involved early, we help refine layouts, reduce Root Protection Area (RPA) conflicts and identify efficient design solutions such as adjusted footprints and foundation strategies.
From feasibility through to construction, we provide practical arboricultural advice that reduces risk, avoids unnecessary cost and supports successful planning outcomes.
We also offer specialist services which may be required or requested by the planning authority, such as veteran tree survey and PiCUS Sonic Tomography tree decay investigation.
