Background
In June 2023 planning approval was given for a major mixed-used new town centre, retail, leisure and housing development for the Borough of Broxbourne.

This transformative urban regeneration project will see the creation of almost 3,000 new homes, schools, new retail and transport and green infrastructure. Enviroscope are proud to have been part of the team developing a scheme of such scale and concept!
The project has been years in the planning by Broxbourne Borough Council, Hertfordshire County Council and development partner Sovereign Peveril.
The project comprises multiple elements including the leisure amphitheatre, new road junctions and junction improvement and infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians.
How we helped
We worked closely with the multi-disciplinary design team to develop the scheme from masterplan stage right through to the detailed design which recently gained planning approval.
Initially, we carried out the extensive BS5837 tree surveys, arboricultural assessments and method statements to guide tree protection and mitigation during construction.
Next, having expertise beyond BS5837 we were also able to survey and advise on the management of ancient woodland and Tree Preservation Orders in relation to the proposals.
Moreover, we carried out a specialist veteran tree survey, and advised on obligations and set up the processes to ensure the project remained tree-compliant during both design and construction.
To further strengthen the project proposals, we wrote a tree and parkland tree management plan. Its implementation will maintain and enhance the value of tree and woodland in factors relating to recreation and amenity, biodiversity, historic landscape, water quality and flooding.
